Rogelio Salmona
the heterogeneous thickness of a uniform surface
Abstract
The construction of this master's thesis entitled “Rogelio Salmona: the heterogeneous thickness of a uniform surface”, presented in 2018 at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie under the guidance of Professor Ruth Verde Zein, was also a process of training and maturation as a researcher in the field of architecture. The work was a proposal for a critical study of the work of the Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona, which reconciled an interpretation regarding its historiographical inclusion, present in a selection of panoramic books on the history of architecture, and the analysis of a set of works by the architect. Historiography and architectural design could be understood in parallel, having as main theoretical references: Waisman (2013) and Zein (2011). In this way, the architect, in addition to the crystallized aspects, gradually reiterated in the panoramic books on the history of architecture, can also be recognized based on his multiple design solutions, demonstrated through the redesign and categorization of a selection of his projects.
