About bonds and edges
Lina and Eisenman for a fiction of the future
Abstract
Peter Eisenman (1932) and Lina Bo Bardi (1914 – 1992) never met, as the story goes. But this is not a historical question, it is a fact. Never happened. Neither affection, form nor language brings them together, they do not talk. This information would not be relevant if it were not for the unlikely intersection of points in their narratives. The encounter takes place in the reflection of the world fixed in memory, in time materialized in the architectural object: concrete matter and spatiality. They did not live in the same place, there is no relevance, but there is a common atmosphere, which is reflected in a similar way in their design processes, but builds different images. Where does the retention live? He knows how to live where she is.
