Anatomy of Environmental Racism and the Environmental Justice Movement
Abstract
Robert Bullard, a pioneer in the topic of environmental racism, is deservedly highlighted through the translation by James Miyamoto, with inclusive language revision by Luiza Rêgo Dias Coelho, of the chapter Confronting Environmental Racism: Voices of the People, from his book Anatomy of Environmental Racism and the Environmental Justice Movement, published in 1993. Bullard “describes the basic environmental problems faced by racialized communities, discusses how the traditional (conventional) environmental movement does not provide the adequate organizational basis, analysis, vision, or strategies to solve these issues, and finally, offers an overview of the diverse representative struggles within the popular environmental justice movement.”
