Abstract

Cities, feminine noun, but what story do cities tell about women? How have planning actions been designed to meet the needs of this segment of the population? (COTA, 2021, p. 24). Instead of being shaped exclusively by commercial interests or centralized policies, cities need to be products of the active participation of their residents, taking into account women's needs in the construction of territories and the development of public policies. In this way, this work discusses the perspective of access to decent housing linked to the right to the city, highlighting its holistic and participation-oriented nature, which aims to empower women to take control of their own development. It then focuses on the technical training of women, carried out by Instituto Fazendinhando, in Jardim Colombo, a favela located in the Morumbi region, one of the most upscale neighborhoods in the city of São Paulo, highlighting how access to relevant technical skills can empower women women to become agents of change in their communities. The aim is to disseminate experiences and results as a way to extend the methods and practices of architecture and urbanism, aiming to improve the living conditions of underprivileged sections of the population, especially women in urban communities.
