The perception of the paths that permeate the city’s art and architecture

Abstract

The porpouse of this article is to relate the spatial appropriation in the contemporary city with the production of place in their architectures. We understand that public events such as the Night of Museums, urban spatial appropriation actions such as the Cartography of Hospitality research project and large contemporary art exhibitions such as the Mercosul Biennial, are multidisciplinary cultural expressions that adapt and resignify spaces, producing places which, although ephemeral, are manifestations of the plurality of the desires of urbanity and agents of the future. To exemplify this understanding, we use as an object of study the perceptions and meanings of places during Cartographic Action of the Cartography of Hospitality Project’s group during the Third Night of Museums. The event took place in parallel with Mercosul Biennial in Porto Alegre’s Historical Center, on May 19, 2018.
